Farewell

Today we celebrated with our cousins the Sundwalls as Weston leaves this week for his LDS mission to Denver, Colorado. It's always great to catch up with family from far away and not so far away, attend church together and be taught by the spirit, and you know dress up as a Cougar football player and Ironman with pearls on!

Make Over

My sister is a genius! Plain and simple.

She truly is the most talented decorator and organizer that this world just may have ever seen. And to prove that, she redid Keagan and Riley's rooms today as exhibit A and B!

She has been working on the pieces for weeks and put it all together this morning. I did nothing more then what she told me to and swipe my debit card for the few things that we didn't up cycle from Nana's house. She on the other hand has done a ton of work. She may just love my girls a wee bit.

I am absolutely THRILLED with the finished product! I just want to sit in there the rest of the day!

Thank you Sa! A thousand times over!!

Day 2 Success!

Both girls were exhausted last night after their first full day of school. But they both woke up very excited to go back!

On the way into school (last day I could walk her in) Keagan let me hold her hand today! It was glorious!

Both girls were happy at pick up and I got a lot more info from Keags today then yesterday. Maybe she wasn't so overwhelmed by it all now.

And no tears from momma today, so it was a success!

Kindergarten Rocks!

Today was the big day! As my sister said, this is what I've been working towards their whole life! And the not so big surprise was they both had a fantastic day just like I knew they would!

Both girls were oozing excitement this morning, but Keagan had a little nervousness mixed in too. After I dropped Riley off to her teachers, I parked the car to walk Keagan in. As usual I grabbed her hand to hold it and she reached up and took her hand out of mine and said "I'm big." That's when my heart shattered into a million little pieces! I'm surprised all the other parents around didn't hear such a catastrophic event! But I stayed pretty cool and only had a few tears that squeaked out.

Once in her class she was ready to go! I stayed and watched for a minute and then came back twice just to see her pretty little face! She had already started chatting with two other little girls. She was brave, sweet and confident! That's my girl!

Then I checked back on Riley waiting for the rest of her class in the cafeteria and she was as happy as could be! So proud of her!! After the second time I came back in the building to check on her, all the teachers kind of laughed and Riley's gorgeous smile was actually bigger then normal, if that's even possible! I'm happy to report I got in my car and cried, but I did not bawl! Not too shabby!

All day I missed my girls and couldn't stop wondering what they were doing! Mid day the librarian emailed me about a volunteering assignment I signed up for and said she just loves Riley so she had gone to see her and had gone to meet Keagan as well! She said they both looked so happy!

I was not only blessed today by knowing my babies were in great hands, but I too was blessed by sweet, sweet friends and a wonderful sister! Sa had just the right words all morning, I had a great lunch with Taryn, Kelly gifted the girls darling new outfits for school, Kathryn checked on me, Nicole invited me over, and Emily brought me two dozen yellow roses! I am so thankful for all the people The Lord has put in our lives!!

I was thrilled to pick the girls up at 3! After I got Riley I had to pull around and get in the very back of the long carpool line. Riley and I "chatted" about her day while she sat in her car seat WITH her backpack still on! She just refused to take it off! She clearly had a great day and was so happy that Miss Bonita took her down the big slide several times! Once we finally got Keagan, she said her "day was great!" Her favorite parts were coloring her name, recess in the gym, not having to eat the cafeteria lunch since I had packed her favorite chicken and strawberries, and that her teachers have a treasure chest to pick from when you are a really good girl! Both girls liked their teachers, already made friends in their class and want to go back! So we celebrated with fancy cupcakes once we got home!

I'm thrilled with such success and didn't expect anything less! Kindergarten rocks!

It's the End

We have officially reached the very end of Summer 2014. I'm happy to say this summer was a great success! We had a whole lot of fun and made some really great memories! We all survived and I will always look back very fondly on this summer and hope the girls do to!

And even though I know this is ridiculously dramatic...it is now the end of the world as we know it!

Kindergarten starts tomorrow! Girls are at school from 7:50 to 3:15! They are old and going out into the big wide world on a new adventure! I've said it a million times and I'll say it again. I'm excited for them, but not for me. Tomorrow will be rough!

But for now all the new school clothes are washed and put away, backpacks are ready to go, school supplies are purchased, the incredible Uncle Todd gave the girls priesthood blessings (so thankful!!), a million prayers have been said, and I tucked the girls into bed in their new Brill Broncos t-shirts!

So bring it on kindergarten! We are as ready as we will ever be!

Wrappin It Up!

Tomorrow is officially the last day of summer 2014! Today we celebrated by getting back to school haircuts and dinner with Addie and the Frenchs.

I was thrilled with the haircuts! It was Riley's very first professional haircut and she did such a great job sitting still and both girls look SO cute! And dinner was great but the kids had their faces glued to the free game tablets. Uggg!

Seven Years

Today makes seven years since my dad has been gone. I still miss him in such an overwhelming way that it hurts!

To honor him today, the girls and I took Cougar blue flowers to his grave, I mixed a bunch of cereals together for breakfast, I flipped my "comb over" in the wind several times, I had rice and cream of mushroom soup for lunch since the two of us ate that together so many times, and I looked for a handkerchief to blow my nose in. I also loved and kissed two of his grand babies just like he would have done.

Mostly today, like every single other day, I felt broken hearted just wishing he was here and at the same time being so thankful that families can be together forever!

Riley's Turn!

Today was Riley's meet the teacher and it went as well as Keagan's did yesterday. And by that I mean she is SO excited, the teachers are great and I have a knot in my throat that this is actually happening!

Riley's teacher is Miss Gilmer, and Miss Leah and Miss Bonita are her assistants. They all seem really great! Riley already knows and loves Miss Bonita and Miss Leah was loving on her today! Plus of course Riley saw lots of old friends around the school and just feels right at home at Brill. There will be 6 kids total in her class this year including her old friend Zach from therapy. She is the only Kindergartener.

She was as happy as can be in her classroom today and I'm sure she is going to have a great year! But why do they have to grow up so fast?!
