Super Scotties!

A whole lot has been goin on at Mahaffey Elementary lately and my two little Scottie’s are loving it! So far we are certainly blessed to be having another fantastic year!

Miss Keagan is on the tennis team at Mahaffey, with 6 other kids, and she has been practicing hard! Today they had their first tournament at Giamalva Tennis Club and it was really so much fun for both of us! She is a natural and the only girl out of 8 in the top division! It was a skills, drills and knowledge competition and she rocked it with 2nd place! I am truly SO proud of her and all of her team members! Seriously so much fun today but I had one tired girl!

Besides the fact that it was roasting outside on November 4th because you know, we are in Houston, one of the reasons she was tired today was because yesterday was a LONG but fun day at school. And when I say long I mean like almost 12 hours at school! After school the girls were helping Mrs Thompson with an art project for Veterans Day and then we had our fall fundraiser the Scottie Social. We really enjoyed the carnival and dinner with all our school friends, in particular the dunking booth for Keagan and the cereal walk for Riley while I worked my duty shift close by. But we were definitely wiped when we finally got home!

And that was all after both girls had already had a fun day at school school. Riley’s day included using her button to say her part in a puppet play in the library with Mrs Kelley as baby bear and then seriously enjoying making a tee-pee and eating it too! I absolutely love getting these kinds of pictures during the day!

Last week both girls had a phenomenal time in the same library at makerspace which is such a fantastic experience for all our Scottie’s! And the week before that was “The Day of Drumming” where every student had a drum to play along with their entire grade in music for another awesome experience! Truly one of the gems of our school is our specials (library, music, art and PE) teachers and coaches! My girls love them all!

To be honest, it is quite a long list of things at Mahaffey that we truly love! Even when they wipe us out and we have to take Saturday morning to recover. I will absolutely take being exhausted because we are sure glad to be plaid! Go Scottie’s go!
