Before breakfast in the darling Gingerbread House Restaurant we had the most magical experience here at GKTW that made two crocodile tears roll down my cheeks! On Thursday mornings Disney characters come to visit all the wish kids here. Isn’t that amazing? There were no long lines, things were relaxed and easy and each character took their time with us for a truly magical experience fit for two nine year old princesses!
We met Belle first and both girls were completely star struck! She was in her blue dress, so sweet and said “bonjour” several times! It was amazing! Then on to Mickey Mouse whom we actually visited twice! This was the one that brought me to tears. I have been prepping Miss Riley for months on meeting Mickey. She has always been so afraid of characters like that and I so desperately wanted her to meet him! And miracles happen because she was happy! She wouldn’t give him a hug, but a high five and a smiling picture was great enough for me! Keagan was SO sweet helping her sister and Riley handed her stuffed Mickey to the real Mickey to sign! I was absolutely thrilled! Both Keagan and I each getting big hugs and even kisses from Mickey just put me right over the top! I’m surprised my heart didn’t just go ahead and burst! Then we met Pluto who danced with Keagan and made Riley laugh. And finally Goofy who just engulfed Keagan in a hug and let all of us feel his whiskers! All four characters signed our pillowcases that I had printed and Goofy even put them on his nose! I about died when Mickey signed “your Pal Mickey Mouse!” There are just no adjectives strong enough to describe how happy we all were after meeting them! And they are just the first set of many characters to go!
Today’s main event was Legoland! Keagan has begged to go to Legoland for years! Riley had a great time too but it was really a dream come true for Keagan today! She literally ran into the park with excitement she couldn’t contain! It was pretty cold (we had serious layers on including two pairs of pants each for the girls) but we had such a fantastic time!
The lego creations that are everywhere you turn are just absolutely incredible. Right off the back the girls about died Meeting Emmet and Wild Style from one of their favorite movies. They also really loved Heartlake City and seeing all their Lego Friends. Keags was very determined to take a picture with Emma and both girls loved the interactive musical fountains! The Mini World was amazing with all the detailed structures and the girls played several games to get stuffed animal prizes that Riley in particular loved to cuddle! Riley was SUPER excited to get her face painted with a tiara like a princess and both girls completely designed and picked out all the parts to their own mini figures including accessories.
After lunch we rode a whole bunch of rides! A few of them are noteworthy. Both girls rocked at driving the boats and Keagan was so excited for the lego car driving school after seeing it on a commercial and insists she was the very best driver of all the kids out there! After Keagan passed that drivers test both girls got souvenir licenses that I have no doubt Keagan in particular will cherish! The Ninjago 3D ride was amazing and we ended up buying the picture of the 4 of us yelling in excitement and using our hands to shoot 3D weapons at Ninjas! Hilarious! And Legoland ended on a great note when Keagan decided she was going to be super brave and go on a rollercoaster with her dad! Turns out she loved it so much and since we had the Hero Pass that took us nearly to the front of lines she rode it again! The ride picture of that was obviously necessary too. Riley was so cute yelling and waving hi to her sister as she very comfortably stayed in her stroller and Keagan’s screams and smile afterwards was priceless!
Once back at GKTW we joined the Christmas party that happens every Thursday night! We played games, did a craft and decorated sugar cookies. Since Riley is terrified of Santa we didn’t go see him but went to pick one gift from all the amazing toys he brought for each child! While we were looking, some of the incredible volunteers helped orchestrate Santa coming up right behind Riley and I to take a photo and she never even realized! Keagan picked a Nerf game gift and Riley picked Mrs Potato Head and was then gifted a Little Pet Shop set. We were all amazed and overwhelmingly thankful! What an incredible place this is and we had fun again tonight talking to several volunteers from all over the country! After dinner Miss Riley insisted we go on the carousel not once but twice and then we topped off the most incredible day with what else but a visit to the Ice Cream Palace and a bubble bath in the jetted tub!
Now it’s time to get organized for another day of magic as we finally head to Disney tomorrow! I can’t imagine we could have even more fun and be more blessed then we already have but if anywhere can do it, it is definitely Disney! The girls are already fast asleep dreaming of what’s next and I have no doubt that tomorrow will not disappoint!
What a beautiful adventure! Love reading your blog today and thank you for being such a great role model.
