Amazing Grace

These two darling daughters of mine never cease to amaze me! They both have strength well beyond their 8 year old tiny selves. That was very apparent yesterday as Riley rocked yet another doctors appointment and Keagan rocked being a supportive and loving sibling to her! Obviously being a kid with special needs can be really difficult at times. But honestly, so can being their sibling. Neither role is easy but these girls handle it with such amazing grace!

Just as an example, Riley stuck out her arm when the nurse even turned towards the blood pressure monitor. She knew exactly what was happening and what she needed to do because she has done this a bazillion times! And Keagan was so sweet and helpful! Without me asking, when it was time for me to really chat with the doctor, Keagan got Riley situated and played her favorite game on her iPad with her! Then when it was time for me to take Riley back for X-rays both girls were so brave! Keagan gave Riley a hug before waiting outside by herself and Riley went thru all the X-rays with a smile on her face despite being scared. Seriously y'all! They totally amaze me!

We are loving having the new Texas Children's Hospital so close in the Woodlands! It makes these millions of appointments so much easier that some of our specialists come out here to see us! The hospital also does a cool new thing where the kids get passports and go around to the different clinics to get different stamps in it. Keags and Rys both loved that! Genius TCH!

And after all that it was definitely time for some fun! We met the Lakes at a fish gallery for their fun and free summer program! Stories about fish, exploring all the tanks, painting and especially the touch tank with fish, frogs and crustaceans were a huge hit with all the kids! So fun!

And the night ended with me kind of paying for my genius idea of letting the girls buy hand cuffs! What was I thinking?! In my defenses it had been a LONG day!
