One of our faves was Mahaffey Field Day 2019! It sure was hot (Texas y’all) but it was SO much fun!! It was a circus theme, you know cause it’s the greatest day on earth at the greatest school on earth! Keagan and Riley were lucky enough to be in the same group and had a blast doing all 14 stations from water games, classic races, blow ups, popsicles, the tug of war and more. I am so blessed to be able to still be at work and peek in on my girlies having the time of their lives with so many amazing friends! Some of our faves were Keagan beating a boy in the 40 yard dash, Riley laughing hysterically on the scooter while getting sprayed by the sprinkler, Keags and Avery getting in their own water fight, Goolsbee and Dicarlo’s girls beating the boys in tug of war, and Riley wiping off Devins face when he got splashed. Oh and popsicles and laughs with our friends of course!
And of course we have partied! A cast party swimming at Mrs Shea’s house was I’m sure the girls favorite! But they also loved the end of year Scottie Choir karaoke party and last day of school impromptu party at the splash pad with the besties. I also hosted my friend Carries retirement party and my amazing teammates decorated and threw me a little birthday party at work the Monday after my birthday!
The Kikuchi girls love a good dress up day so even though it was on the 4th to last day of school we loved the storybook character and vocabulary parade! Riley used her Cinderella book and rocked her perfect princess gown and Keagan cracked me up in a popcorn costume because the word she chose was delicious. I loved Keagan’s homemade sign and Riley’s pure joy walking in the parade!
Right after the parade was grade level awards. Keagan received an Aspiring Academics award for all the progress she has made this year and a Scottie Choir award. Riley also received a choir award and a Positive Purpose award! I am so proud of these two for working so hard! PS after the parade Riley noticed several people in her class had cat ears and whiskers so of course she needed them too!

The diva herself and Keagan and Mrs Hatley with matching converse!
We had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend which gave us our first sweet taste of summer! We had our first pool day of the season on Saturday and had a blast! I had the best and most belly laughing lunch with Taryn, Jessie and Jenn who was in town. And we had a super fun cook out at the French’s with the Fosters as our last of our traditional Memorial Day get togethers. The conversation, food and company were so great we stayed out way past our bed tine and then struggled thru our last 2.5 days of school.
On the last day of school we really went out with a bang! Keagan has been working hard to be in the Mahaffey traditional talent show on the last day of school. Months ago she chose the song “Fight Song” and has practiced and practiced and even enlisted help from Mrs Shea. At try outs two weeks before, another girl sang the same song. Both girls had to come back the next day with a new song which stressed Keags out but was a good learning experience for her. Thankfully, ultimately they both got to sing their original choice because they were different. So Keagan was the second to last act and totally killed it! She blows me away not only with her incredible voice that is so pretty and so powerful but also with her entertaining and confident stage presence! That girl loves a crowd! And so does Mrs Riley so she was thrilled to be included in the self proclaimed Mahaffey Comedy Crews act! That crew was made up of Keagan, Riley,Avery, Lauren and Audrey and they couldn’t have been any cuter! They took turns telling jokes and came up with a whole cute performance that was a crowd favorite! And Mrs Riley got to carry a sign that said “laugh!” They SO rocked it!!
And just like that 4th grade is over! It went by WAY too fast! I am incredibly proud of Keagan and Riley for working hard, focusing, setting goals, taking correction and accepting help, for not giving up and for growing. But I’m also so proud of them for being kind, strong, positive, helpful, a good friend and leaders in each of their own ways. We will cherish so many 4th grade memories and experiences forever and always be thankful for our amazing teachers, coaches, therapists, specialists, administrators, paras, and the nurse who helped us immensely! We got the best of the best y’all and can’t thank them enough!

You really know it’s summer time when we have filled out our end of the year questionnaire and added all our awards and final report card to our school book! I always love these answers! And I’m trying not to care that we forgot to take our traditional front door pictures.

And now these 4th grade graduates are ready for summer! SO ready! But momma is not even close to being ready for them to be 5th graders yet! That makes me want to barf! Good thing we’ve got a whole glorious summer before all that! Summer!
