The Best Way

Y’all might already know that the best way to spread Christmas cheer is by singing loud for all to hear. Especially if you’ve seen the best Christmas movie of all time, Elf. But did you know the best way to bring joy to my little family is to let one of us work hard and then shine in doing what she loves? Cause that means the other two of us get to be her biggest fans and have just as much fun cheering her on!

Keagan has worked very hard since September in her role as Jovie in the musical Elf Jr. Her and I have spent hours and hours running her lines and lots of car trips have been spent singing her songs. She has looked forward every single week to rehearsals on Tuesdays where she can do some of her favorite things- sing, dance, and hang out with really amazing people like Mrs Shea, Mrs Rachel, Callie, Lexie, Hope, Mia, Maddie, Owen, Peter, Henry, Kirk and a bunch more! I can’t tell you how much fun she had! She even loved the long hours of tech week last week! And she REALLY loved performing last Thursday night, Friday night and twice on Saturday! And it showed! Her eye rolls and sassyness were so amazing that I’m really hoping that was just really good acting! Her duet with Buddy and other songs were awesome. But her solo of “Never Fall in Love With an Elf” just stole the whole show! That girl brought the house down at all 4 performances!! It was SO SO SO much fun to see!

Of course Riley and I very happily went to every show. But Keagan was also blessed with a lot of love from so many friends and family who came to support her! Since there were lots of kids we know and love in the show, there were lots of people we know and love in each audience. But Keagan was SO blessed with a personal cheering section at each show. Sa and Todd came Thursday night. Friday night her cheering section was the 4 Houston Ginns, Gramas and Coach, her awesome teacher Mrs Goolsbee and her husband and she was so excited to see Nana there too! During the Saturday matinee she was cheered on by Miss Taryn, Reagan, Hudson, Miss Allie and Izzy. And Saturday night was a sold out and packed crowd of so many people we just love! Her 3 besties came and brought homemade cards, gifts and their mommas that I love, so Avery, Mrs Tina, Lauren, Miss Krenek, Audrey, and Mrs Dede with Will and Audrey’s sweet cousin. Nurse Hudson brought Keeley, Hunter and Jace. Mrs Hanks brought her Jace. Mrs Meghan brought Mrs Smith, Noah and Phoebe. Abby Williams brought her parents and our neighbor Mrs RoxAnne was there too! There was also a special guest there on Saturday night. On Saturday afternoon Keagan had a big surprise guest that wishes to remain nameless on the blog but trust me both girls were very excited!

I think we are all a little tired but wow was Elf Jr fun! All the kids were so stinking cute and everyone performed so incredibly well! Riley and I laughed, awwwwed, clapped and cheered at all four shows. We were amazed how each show got better and better. They were a bunch of cute and talented kids that had a cute story to start with but Mrs Shea always brings out the magic! And the “snow” at the end of each show put it over the top! But there is no question on what was my favorite part! Seeing my girl work hard to accomplish a goal and then be able to hit it out of the park because of that hard work and just shine on stage will be a memory sealed in my heart forever! I’m a little sad it’s over, and Keagan is really sad it’s over! But don’t worry we are already registered for next semester because I can’t keep my star down. And y’all, wow was it fun to see her shine!!

Now get ready for a whole lot of pictures!!

So grateful for this lady! So grateful for DPAC and this experience! So grateful for my Keagan! This weekend SHE was the very best way to spread my Christmas cheer.
