Work has been crazy so we were there bright and early. And both girls were SO excited to strutt their stuff in our annual school parade! Kinder thru 2nd grade were part of a Storybook Character parade and Riley was thrilled to dress as the Little Mermaid and actually wear her new flip flops too! With the perfect tiara on her head she of course beamed walking in the parade and absolutely loved all the cheers and smiles! She loved it so much that she insisted Mrs Akers take her on a second loop around the whole school to wave at all of her adoring fans! I swear that girl thinks everyone was there for her!
3rd thru 5th grade participated in a vocabulary parade. Keagan and Avery picked the word inseparable and were so stinkin cute! Keagan and I made Velcro boards that hung over their shoulders, Mrs Tina and Avery made the cutest connecting trolls hair headbands and at school the girls worked together to make their cute sign!
Following the parade was the hour of honors for all of general ed, separated by grades. Riley’s class party and awards will be next week. 3rd grade met in their mod and had the cutest set up for their bigger awards. The kids that received the bigger awards walked a red carpet that was roped off and stood behind a decorated podium with a green screen behind them that was digitally swapped out for an Academy Awards backdrop later. It was SO stinkin cute! The biggest award the kids could recieve was the PLAID award. All the kids in each class voted for one boy and one girl that represented our PLAID core values the very best and Keagan was truly blessed by her classmates to recieve the PLAID award! She was SO excited and actually teared up! After she strutted her stuff down that red carpet I just wanted to scoop her up and squeeze her cute face! She received a cute certificate (that momma helped make) and a mini Oscar award with her name labeled on it! Such a surprise and exciting achievement! The classes then broke up into their classrooms where more class awards were passed out. Keags received a leadership award and was happy to cheer on her friends!
See? What a fun day! Keagan said it was one of the best days ever because she also found out that she made it into the talent show after a ton of hard work! I’m super proud of her and can’t wait to see her perform next week and celebrate Riley’s class as well!
Summer is almost here and it just got a whole lot sweeter this morning when I received messages that I had won a big Instagram contest! We feel like we won the lottery and can’t wait for a fantastic summer 2018! Just 2.5 more days of school to go! We got this!
