Finally!

I’m seriously behind on posting, but the last few weeks of what ended up being a six month long spring break and summer is still very much worth documenting! It wasn’t when expected but we did finally say goodbye to summer. Because of county health recommendations due to (the much hated around here) Covid-19, the first day of school was pushed back three weeks. So we had 3 extra weeks to party it up, even though I was working my part time hours at Mahaffey during that time. So the theme of that time period was play dates galore!

On days I worked, Nana watched the girls in the morning and either Reagan would come over to hang out in the afternoons or the girls went to hang out with the Whitney’s. Either way they had a fantastic time and we are so thankful! With Reagan they baked, Reagan french braided BOTH girls hair, and they watched the first three Harry Potters. And with the Whitney’s the swan, played games and made funny music videos. Good times all around!

We also celebrated our houses 30th birthday. We had awesome Family dinners with the Frenchs, Kellie and Justin. We had a new Mulan movie watch party at our house with the Whitney’s. We reunited with Audrey and Avery so these cute girls could have an amazing day with their Mahaffey besties before they all go to different middle schools. One day I took the girls and friends for a goodbye summer swim party at the Blackham’s. And the girls had other play dates over here full giggles, music and craziness just how we like it.

We spent way too much money on masks and slowly got used to a new normal of wearing masks all the time! And we all got back to school ready with haircuts! Riley had seriously long Covid hair that was fun while it lasted but we decided she is still a short hair girl for many reasons.

We got all the bazillions of supplies that middle school requests including buckets of hand sanitizers. We turned in our 5th grade chrome books for official 6th grade ones! The girls participated in a back to school kick off video for the district just saying “We are so excited to be Doerre Warriors for the first time and we can not wait to make new friends!” And we got all the new school clothes and shoes ready to go!

Probably most exciting for all of us is that DPAC is back, the studio is open and the three of us are there together! Both girls are doing Ovation performance choir and are in the production of Suessical the Musical Junior. Keagan is Jojo which is one of the leads, Riley is the cutest little Who you ever did see and I am working as the Stage Manager! Riley is the cutest and will ask to watch some production of Suessical on YouTube almost everyday when we don’t already have Hamilton on. Of course she just has to wear her Cat in the Hat hat or her rainbow dress that is part of her costume.

And with all of that we said goodbye to the craziest summer of our lives! One for the history books and one we will surely never forget! I think we did our best to enjoy it but we are ready to finally move forward! Peace out!
