Monday Keagan kept herself rather busy. She used her serious talent and cleaned out and organized the pantry for a little bit of money from Nana. She also was happy as can be with her cooking experiments and her current obsession of trick food like the YouTube videos she likes to watch. We have many examples of pretzels inside pens, pencil erasers replaced with starburst and chocolate in cleaned out play dough containers. She cracks me up and thankfully she mostly cleans up her own messes. She has also made the cutest little house out of a box from Riley’s new high chair. She erected a roof, put up shelves and decorated with pictures and drapes! I love how creative she is! And speaking of that new high chair, it must be seriously comfy. All day Monday Riley chillaxed in that chair and just demanded more and more food and different tv shows literally for hours. And the diva got her way because A. The whining is just killin me and B. She is so over the top unbelievably cute!
Monday night we had big plans, but again plans change sometimes. The greatest baseball team in the world, the Houston Astros, honored the Mormon Helping Hands organization at their game Monday night as we were the largest organized group of helpers during hurricane Harvey. We had gotten tickets with the French’s, Fosters and lots of other friends so we could all sit together in the cheap seats which were a sea of yellow Mormon Helping Hands shirts. But after an hour and a half drive in the rain, when we were literally a block away from Minute Maid stadium, the person in charge that shall remain nameless as they didn’t want to be immortalized on the blog, realized they forgot the tickets! It didn’t take long for us to laugh and realize not much we could do about it and make our way to Barnaby’s for a fun change of plans dinner. Now that’s going to be a good story for years, so it just had to be documented right?
Tuesday we were disappointed again to wake up to news that camp was canceled so we went back to bed. After some chores we were ready to make the best of it again so we did something we’ve wanted to do for a long time- roller skating! How amazing is it that we met the Krenek’s and the Kelley’s at the same Champions Rollerworld that I went to when I was little?! Riley had never even had skates on her feet before and Keagan had two loops around the rink about two years ago. So we were startin from scratch. After trying a couple of different ways, and sweet friends trying to help her too, I pushed Riley around a little bit as she kind of slid on her skates. But she was more then happy to sit and watch all the skaters and be glad it wasn’t her falling down out there! Keagan started out slow and Lauren was a good helper. She fell quite a bit but every time she got right back up and kept going. They skated and even requested songs at the dj booth for hours as Keagan got better and better. She still needs to learn how to stop with out falling and next time we will bring Riley’s wheelchair for her to push around, but otherwise we really had fun!
Then we took Lauren with us for a quick dinner at Pie 5 with the French’s and their friends, and then it was on to the most packed and chaotic movie theater for the new movie Incredibles 2! The movie was fantastic, the popcorn good and the leather reclining chairs perfect. And that wrapped up another fun day that was all a change of plans.
Mother Nature has let up and we are back on track with Camp Buckaroo for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. By the end of the week I will have lots more fun stuff to report, and it will all probably be the original plans. So let’s face it, the Astros game would have been seriously fun. But all in all, for Monday and Tuesday at least, the change of plans was not too shabby.
