Cute Cowgirl!

Miss Riley makes one cute cowgirl for Go Texan day today!

She has pink boots like her sister, but she is yet to master walking in them. And our pink cowboy hat is just way too big for her cute little head. But in her bandana and her denim she shines!!

It was also National Rare Disease day today. Since Riley is rockin a rare disease of Polymicrogyria, we wore jeans (genes) in support of awareness for this day with lots of our friends!

I just love this jean wearin little cow poke!

Memory Lane with Tears

Today was Go Texan day for Keagan at school. That means she got to stomp into class in her pink cowgirl boots and the closest thing she has to western wear.

When I took that picture today and marveled at just how cute my little cowgirl was, I couldn't help but think of a similar one.

Same cute girl, wearing the same cute boots! How quickly time flies! Much too quickly!

Finding that picture led me to other old ones too. They made me ohhh and awww and get a little watery eyed.

This is my very favorite!

I sat and stared at this one for quite a while. I remember that day well. It was a memorable one.

It was such a hard time in my life. So much was going on for any one person to handle. The girls were almost 5 months old and required all that 5 month olds do, times two. We were still in a very scary place with Riley's heart and seeing her Cardiologist once a week. I was still dealing with the grief of losing my dad, trying to save a marriage that had blown up in my face and don't even get me started on my post-pardon depression! Life was hard!

But oh these babies! These two precious girls! If I think hard enough I can remember their sweet baby smell and noises. And I don't have to think much to remember those two precious smiles!

I worked hard to get this picture of the two of them smiling together. And I remember after I got it I just sat and stared at these two precious spirits that for some crazy reason The Lord had bestowed upon me. I realized then that He knew all my weaknesses and knew I would be raising them alone, and he still sent them to me! I was amazed and stunned by that. It was right then that I realized as long as I kept The Lord as my partner, I could actually raise these two sweet girls. Before that I really wasn't sure I could do it. He had given me an incredible family to help me, but I still didn't know if our little family of three could survive. But then I was reminded that with the help of The Lord and those two little smiles as motivation, anything is possible! And look at us five years later!

How thankful I am for not only the greatest partner I could possibly have to help me, but also for the two greatest little girls I could possibly have to enjoy this crazy life with! Crazy it is and always has been! But oh how I love it! And oh how I love them!

Nice Sunday

A nice weekend ended...wait for it....nicely. We had our monthly family dinner here tonight with lots of chatter and cousin laughter. Love it! But definitely leaves me missing the rest of the family.

That was only after some totally irreverent and inappropriately timed pictures were taken at church this morning. Seriously who takes pictures of their kid in Sacrament meeting? Apparently I do! But just when she is sitting with her feet propped up on the pew in front of her; sitting like a real lady on Nanas lap!

And our friend Laura took a sweet pic of the same little lady saying the closing prayer in primary with the help of Gama Linda.

And then my friend Jessica snapped a picture of her as she snuck away from Gamas to turn off the light!

Workin so hard must have tired Riley out because she took a 2.5 hour nap after church. But that just gave Keagan time to get gussied up and put on a little cowgirl show! Isn't that what everyone does on a Sunday afternoon?

Smiles and Tantrums

The tables have turned a little bit at our house. I catch Miss Keagan giggling and smiling more these days then ones past. And it's Riley's turn to take a stab at the tantrum phase. This mommy was really hoping we would skip that one! Oh well. At least they don't last too long!

We had a weekend full of both!

Uggggg

Being a single mom is hard! This parenting job was meant for two for a reason.

Just thought I should document that today.

What The Doctor Ordered!

A whole Saturday with no plans and no where to go plus gorgeous weather! Now that's a slice of heaven! We stayed in our jammies all day and played outside for over 4 hours this afternoon with Addie who slept over and Miss Taryn who dropped by for a chat! It was wonderful! The girls were filthy and worn out! Sounds great to me!

Day of Love!

I don't have what you would call a traditional Valentine. Instead I have the two cutest Valentines I could ever have that have stolen my heart and a life that is so full of love! So today we celebrated that!

Nothing says I love you like....

Chocolate covered strawberries for breakfast!

An afternoon at the Temple! Cause let's face it, the House of The Lord, that's where we can feel real, unconditional and overwhelming love!

Two cute class parties!

(Riley and Joshua as Valentines mummy's!)

And the two sweetest Valentine cards that I ever did see from my two babies!

Happy love day to all! I'm blessed enough to have more then my fair share!

Heart Attacks!

I can neither confirm nor deny that the girls and I had so much fun today giving people a "heart attack!" If we were to do something like that, we may have chosen the Millers (Matheson), the Frenchs and Sa's house. And if we did, then the girls would have giggled the entire time! They may or may not have loved it so much that I'm thinking this may just need to become a tradition!

Wedding Day

After years of always being together, the "Q" and the "U" finally got married today at John Wesley, Keagans school!

It was QUite the lovely celebration! Keagan wore her Princess Elsa dress and had a fantastic time! My cute date to the ceremony was Miss Riley (before she went to school) who was dressed as Cinderella of course!

The ceremony was darling with a real minister, bridesmaids, groomsman, a ring barer and flower girl. It also included QUite a lot of QUacky Q&U puns. Afterwards was a royal feast of pizza, grapes and even cake! And then it was time for the royal ball that was attended by the real Rapunzel and Flynn Rider! The wedding guests did the waltz, the hokie pokie, the limbo, the chicken dance, the conga and the YMCA! Keagan broke it down with her friends and even with Rapunzel! What a fun day!!
