SO Much Fun, But a Crashing Halt

Well all of our serious summer fun came to a crashing halt yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately I think we have over done the fun a little plus I am stressing over trying to figure out several important situations and that resulted in a flare up of my stupid auto immune disorder and caused a nasty, blistery, SUPER painful and intensely deep itching rash on my foot and leg. That means steroid shots, oral steroids, and steroid cream which will have me feeling irritable, extra hot and sweaty, vamished like I haven’t eaten in days and having a hard time sleeping. So that may put a little damper on the summer fun including us having to miss a pool party last night. But hopefully I can fight it the best I can! Plus we had a TON of fun already this week!! We could probably use some down time this weekend before our big Camp Buckaroo week starts on Monday anyway.

This past week the girls had VBS (vacation bible school) at Faithbridge Methodist church for the 4th summer in a row! Us Mormons love those amazing, big group of energetic, well organized, super fun, great singing and dancing, volunteering and loving Methodist! Both girls had SO much fun with several friends from school and of course Lauren and Avery! Avery and Beckham Lake were actually in their same small green turtles 4 group! They spent the week learning praise songs and dances, playing games, doing crafts and science projects, and learning bible stories. The theme was Shipwrecked and all about how Jesus rescues us! He rescues us when we are lonely, sad, have sinned, etc. We loved participating in the service project to gather underwear and socks for kids in foster care and participating in the dress up days! Mismatch day and crazy sock day was fun but the girls definitely loved wacky hair day after Keagan and I ventured to Kroger at 9:30 the night before to buy pink and blue hair paint and we added toys to their hair too! We were particularly thankful for everyone who volunteered their time and worked SO hard to organize such an event for 1,300 kids! Mrs Elizabeth and Jared were the group leaders and Mrs Becky was the most amazing and loving buddy for Riley and her Minnie Mouse who she just had to bring everyday! And of course the incredible Mrs Julie and Mrs Courtney are forever helpful organizing everything for Riley and making sure she has an awesome experience! So much fun for 5 mornings of fun, learning and praising Jesus!

After VBS on Monday we had our first group of friends over to share in the Waterslide fun! With the Lakes and the Krenek’s we had 8 kids having a total blast for almost 3 hours! Mrs Chantel was so nice to bring pizza and fruit and Mrs Tina brought snacks too so it was quite a party! The kids played hard and all enjoyed it but I think 8 people is about the max of kids on the big but still not massive slide. All of us had so much fun, even us mommy friends!

Tuesday after VBS we took Avery to Potteryland where we had hours of fun painting our selected pottery pieces! Riley painted a kitty cat piggy bank, both Keagan and Avery (otherwise known as AK or Keagary) both painted a horse and I painted the cheapest little vase I could find. We had a great time until I completely forgot to warn Riley that we had to leave our pottery there for them to glaze and bake for a couple of days. A full meltdown resulted and that was the beginning of A LOT, A LOT of Riley whining this week! Hopefully some down time today and really good nights sleep last night is going to help that!

Wednesday after VBS we met a whole bunch of fun Mahaffey friends to go bowling! With the kids bowl free program the place was packed but we lucked out with 3 lanes for all 20 Scottie’s to bowl 2 games together! It was loud and crazy but crazy fun! And all the sweet girls including her sister on Riley’s lane helped her so I got to chat and catch up with my friends and co-workers! We all had fun and then Mrs Dede and Audrey invited both girls over to play at their house for a little while which was a huge blessing that Riley got to go and momma got a bunch of errands done!

Then on Thursday afternoon Mrs Meghan, Noah and Phoebe hosted the most epic water balloon fight at their house! There were well over 500 water balloons for Keagan, Riley, Noah, Phoebe, Alessandro, Franchesca, Lane, Hollis, Abby and we brought Lauren too! Crazy fun ensued! The rain storm started right when we were finishing cleaning up so we moved inside to play. And then they had the most darling treat set up with the most delicious cupcakes, strawberry lemonade, lemon tartlettes, and strawberries! This with the 4th straight day of SO much fun with friends! I have some seriously lucky girls, but I am lucky too that I just happen to be friends with all their moms!

The girls got to spend even more fun at the Lakes yesterday afternoon while I was at the doctor and now hopefully we all enjoy a quiet Saturday! Hopefully I can get some down time but we shall see. I’m a mom so I can’t even be left alone in the bathroom of course!!

At least the notes said “I love you!”
