VBS Round 2

Last week the girls had an incredible time at VBS at St Anne's in Tomball with their friends Audrey and Avery. Our friend, the amazing Dede Ostermann volunteered to be Riley's shadow and made it possible for her to have a really great time! The theme was Ocean Commotion focused on Noah's Arc. The decorations were amazing and so were the activities of games, songs, crafts, bible lessons and on the last day they even had huge blow up water slides! The awesome crafts were my favorite including a shrinky dink hand print key chain! The girls favorites were the water games, being with their friends and making new friends too!

On the last day I got a chance to talk with Dede. She is so sweet and started to tear up so I expected her to tell me what a special spirit Miss Riley is. But she was actually amazed with Miss Keagan! I started to cry as well when she expressed to me that Keagan had such a kind and generous heart for an 8 year old. She talked about her constantly checking on Riley and making sure Riley got a turn or had what she needed. That was one of the best things I could be told about my children! I am incredibly thankful for these two special little girls that I am so blessed by, all of our wonderful friends, and great experiences this summer like VBS!

She's Home! She's Home!

She's Home! There are almost no words to describe how unbelievably proud I am of Sami for completing her mission today! I have sat in awe over the last two months as I have read her letters and seen the incredible woman she has become because of it! Im so glad she sacrificed everything to go serve the Lord and the people of Santa Rosa, California for 18 months! But I am elated that she is home!

That was the most emotional trip to the airport ever! You could feel the excitement in the air as we waited for her with the Fosters, Nana, her friends Reagan, Brooke and Nathan and then 4 other families that had missionaries on the same flight. She was one of the first people off her plane and she literally ran thru security as her mom ran to meet her! It was incredible! Then lots more hugs and tears followed! It seriously felt so amazing to hug her!

We are SO proud of her and SO happy to have her home!

A Camping We Will Go

Did you look at that title and actually think the Kikuchi Girls went camping?! Well if you were picturing us around a camp fire and sleeping in a tent then my dad would say you are livin in a dream world. But the girls did do two awesome day camps this summer. It has been a couple of weeks but I was waiting to get some pictures to post.

Our third week of summer was spent at the girls favorite summer activity, Camp Buckaroo! Every year they have the most incredible week at this camp put on by Easter Seals for special needs kids and their siblings. They reunited with friends from past years including Riley's sweet helper Brooklyn and made new friends! They played games, sang, did crafts, pet crocodiles, held snakes, took a cooking class, did Zumba, had a movie day, played instruments, sang karaoke and did so much more! At the awards ceremony at the end, Keagan was given the social butterfly award for being a friend to everyone and Riley received the dancing queen award because the girl has moves! With all of that fun it is always a highlight of the girls summer! Disclaimer some of these pictures are pictures of the girls scrapbooks that they made themselves on the last day.

The week after all of that fun was time for volleyball camp! It was put on by two sweet young women in our Stake for young girls to be introduced to the game. Keags and Rys loved it but were glad it was from 8-10am trying to beat the summer heat. Keagan played great and the coaches said she was so helpful with Riley who just loved playing with all the girls. They played on both the court and the sand and had a fun last day with water games! This camp was totally worth the small fee and was made extra fun since one of the girls besties Avery was there too!

Our summer is already half way over but I feel like we have already had so much fun and made some great memories! And we've still got a whole lot more to go! Bring it on!
